Where have all the projects gone?

These days time is a bit limited for me to do much writing. It sucks, but car show season is coming and I’m hoping to hit as many shows as possible but no promises. Between running a business, a side business, and working on the family farm I haven’t had much free time lately. Which means I haven’t done my every few days sorting through the usual places one would look for old cars to buy. I’m not really in the market for an old car right now as I have other obligations but I like knowing what’s out there and how much it costs. It’s admittedly been a good four or five months since I’ve looked but to my surprise there was a huge lack of project cars for sale.
Chevy nova SS
Where did they go? I’m talking about the first tier cars like 69 Camaros, Cudas, Road Runners, and 67 Mustangs. They’ve been gone for a long time. I’m talking about the third tier stuff like Chevy IIs, and Valiants. Where did they go? Who wants those cars but guys like me? Are there that many guys like me? I can’t imagine there are. Are we now just left with “restored” cars that are going to go for a small fortune? I sure the heck hope not. Well I hope they are getting driven hard anyway.
I know this was a bit of a short and pointless post but I just wanted to talk cars even if it’s just with myself these days. I suppose if it’s going to take 30 or 40k to get a muscle car I might as well just get a new Challenger. I want one anyway but deep inside I’ll always wish I had an old Challenger that I fixed up myself. I don’t want this post to seem sad or even whiney. That’s not my point. I don’t have a point. With spring here and Sunday being tomorrow I hope anyone that would read this tonight or tomorrow morning will take their old or new car and go driving. I know that’s my plan. I’ve actually been doing some filming lately. Nothing great, nothing ground breaking, or earth shattering, but I’ve just been filming my Sunday drives. If anything it will provide a nice sound track and a change of pace from the next to nothing I’ve been posting here lately. So look for that this summer. In the mean time I’ll try and shoot some photos of some cool cars.

Get out and drive something winter is over!

It was a car kind of weekend: Sunday Commentary?

Too many time here at IG I think I focus on being professional and making a good informative article and I just forget the passion. It’s why lately I’ve just posted a lot of pictures instead of a lot of rambling. Photos are really what you guys want to see I know it’s what I like but still there are stories to tell. Stories of passion, excitement, and all the other reasons we love cars. This weekend I was reminded that it’s a multitude of reasons.
One thing I suppose I’ve always known but never realized what that one of the coolest thing about cars is that they can be fun alone or with a group. This weekend I did a little bit of both. I met some friends on Saturday to go to the St. Louis Autoshow. I’m not a big “autoshow” guy because standing around in a big mass of people looking at a bunch of new cars really isn’t my thing. Oh I love car shows, you know where cars people actually own get together and show off their personal rides. That’s fun, but I could care less about the latest Kia suburbia or Toyota boring as hell. However I was pretty excited about the prospect of seeing the new Hellcat and Z06 as well as some others. So off to the autoshow we go.

Sunday Drive

Another Sunday is here and I’ve been slacking a bit on the week in review. So much so I’m not even sure I’ll do it regularly. It would be great if I could do IG all day everyday for a living but there is a real world out that keeps me away sometimes. Still IG is my passion and it makes me really happy to say we have a really busy week ahead with lots of cool coverage from the Rod Run in Wentzville, Missouri. I think it was bigger this year then last and the lighting was perfect for shooting cars.
I will have something for everyone coming up this week but don’t be surprised if it’s not a tad Mopar heavy. There were so many great ones to choose from and it seemed they were out 3:1 over the other brands. In the mean time let’s do a little review.

Sunday Commentary: Happy Mother’s Day

In case you forgot it’s Mother’s Day so if you did forget you’ve still got some time to rush out and get something. There is your public service reminder of the week. What a busy weekend for the crew here at IG. First and foremost I was out at a couple shows this weekend. The first being the big Loafer’s Car Club show I previewed earlier in the week. The second show was kind of a fluke. I was driving, saw a pack of classic cars and decided to be a stalker and see where they were headed. Luckily it was only a block or so away when they pulled into another show. I have no idea what club or even where the show was but it was a nice little get together. I’ll have some photos from that show a bit later in the week.

In the meantime let’s do the week in review which has been absent recently. I guess you could say this week was a bit slower then normal for us here. It is to be excepted from time to time. In a way the start of car show season is a huge relief for me because now that regular new content will be coming in I do not have to hunt for videos, news, and any other info that we’ve been doing lately. Hopefully now for the summer these week in reviews will be filled with the original content you’ve come to expect from us.

Sunday Commentary: Easter Sunday

Hopefully your Easter Sunday was full of family, friends, and good food. I realize not everyone celebrates Easter that reads IG and for those of you that this was just another Sunday hopefully it was warm and sunny and full of driving. No matter what Sunday was for you Spring is in full effect in a lot of the country and if you were out here in central Illinois this weekend you surely noticed that the hot rods, classics, and muscle cars were out in full force too. I am not aware of too many official get togethers this weekend but there was a lot of action out on the roads. It was great to see. Of course here in farm country the farmers were out in force too so remember to keep your eyes open for them and slow down if you see them.
2015 Dodge Challenger R/T
This week was largely about Mopar here at IG. With the new Challenger and Charger getting launched that took up a lot of our week. Hopefully you got a chance to watch the reveal live on Thursday right here, but if not we had plenty of pics of the new Challenger, and we’ll do something on the Charger soon. The week wasn’t all about the Challenger and Charger though. Let’s take a look at what else we did.
